  Therefore, if the league that Columbus uses is not the Castilian, nor the French, nor the Italian and as we have seen by the studies of Nordenskiöld and of Laguarda Trías and by the references of Ferrer, Lebrixa and Pou the four-mile league is a fundamental and characteristic of the Catalan naval science which will be latter the template for the Spanish naval league and that according what says the Discoverer himself, this measure is the one that both him and his sailors are accustomed to use, it seems to me out of question that the main part of the Columbine expedition had to be Catalan.
